Our sample consisted of 7.079 persons of both sexes who come to the Hospital for health control or in the first consultation for complaints not related to Diabetes Mellitus. They. were submitted to two hours postprandial blook glucosa determination. The glicemia was determined with the Dextrostix method. When the glicemia was 7 20 mlg. or more, these patients were submitted to the standard tolerance test according to the method of Brown. We found 27 8 cases of Diabetes Mellitus which gives a rote of 3.1% of the sample. In relation to the age and nutricional states ofthe patient we found a progresive increase of the rote in the older groups. In the people who were obese the incidance of diabetes was higher than in the non obese people. This was more clearly apparent in the femenine sex. In relation with the family history of the Diabetes we found that the rote was higher in the individual with a family history of Diabetes. In the group of diabetic women with chindren,a high incidence of macrosomia fetal was foundand, in the group of married women a high incidence of sterility.
