HIPERINFESTACION POR STRONGYLOIDES: UN CASO FATAL
Abstract
Strongyloldiasls Is a dlsease that produces few symptoms, rarely, cases that cause mortal complications have been described, but this can occur in immunodeficients, or in persons with subsecuent disea.,;es or in persons with an lnmunosupresive drug therapy. The case of a child (age 10 years old) in an under nutrition state is presented, her conditlon was aggrnvated with nauseas, vomits, edema, ascites, and finally she die d. The findings of the necropsy were: an strong ascites of 1,200 mi. wlth a great number ofstrongyloides maggots, polymorphonuclears, and multinucleated glant ce lis. Also lt has heen found maggots ofthis parasite in lung, intestine, and in the cecal appendix. Tubular necrosis was found in the kidneys. It has been concluded that strongyloidiasis can be manifcsted asan hyperinfestation and can cause the death.
